miami heat…

The Miami Heat’s season was a total failure. Yes, they made it to the NBA finals but lost 3 games in a row to lose the series, and pretty much hand Dallas their first title in history. The Heat and their “Big 3” seemed to be no match for Big D. The Mavs beat the HEAT by staying “cool” 😉 at the 3 point line and hitting almost every shot attempt. LeBron James never took over the game at all in the finals. D-Wade had carried what was supposed to be Lebrons team through out the finals. Lebron seemed to not want the ball in the fourth quarter. it looked like he passed the ball every time he touched it, instead of looking to score. He was completely shut down in the fourth quarter in all 6 games. LeBron James, who is supposed to be the best player in the league choked in the biggest game of his career, the NBA’s biggest star, failed to shine, and Dirk Nowitzki seemed to be completely unstoppable through out the playoffs, and took the finals over almost single handedly, except the last game when Jason “The Jet” Terry took matters into his own hands when Dirk was missing everything he shot. Terry, who called out Lebron James to play DEFENSE and stop him was the one person the Heat couldn’t defend. The Heat played really good all around basketball throughout the Finals, except the fourth quarter of each of the last 3 games. Miami’s “Big 3” had projected to be a dynasty and win 5-6 NBA titles, but that seems unlikely the way they played this year. The NBA’s villains (the Heat) have alot of work ahead of them if they want to be back in the finals, which we all know they will be, but well have to see how long it takes, and how bad they want to win that NBA title.

:the picture wouldn’t make sense unless you follow the NBA and saw how the Miami Heat introduced their (NOT SO) “BIG 3”

SPORTSMANSHIP.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP CAN MEAN A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS. FOR EXAMPLE IT CAN MEAN SOMEONE WITH CHARACTER THAT IS WILLING TO HELP OTHERS NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCE. IT CAN ALSO MEAN A GROUP OF TEAMMATES WHO AREN’T AFRAID OF MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION EVEN IF IT MEANS THEIR OPPOSING TEAM WINNING. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU DO THE RIGHT THING. ALSO GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP CAN BE SHOWN THROUGH SMALL GESTURES OR HEROIC EFFORTS. IT STARTS WITH SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS SHAKING HANDS WITH THE OPPONENT BEFORE THE GAME AND INCLUDES ACKNOWLEDGING GOOD PLAYS MADE BY OTHERS AND GRACEFULLY ACCEPTING BAD CALLS.

PEOPLE LEARN TO SHOW SPORTSMANSHIP WHEN THEY ARE KIDS, THEY LEARN FROM WATCHING ADULTS PLAY THE SPORT, OR FROM THEIR PARENTS WHO WATCH SPORTS AND THE WAY THEY REACT TO CERTAIN PLAYS OR CALLS.  AS KIDS WE WATCH PROFESSIONALS PLAY SPORTS, AND IDOLIZE PLAYERS WHO ARE THE BEST OF OUR GENERATION.  FOR THE MOST PART PROFESSIONALS SHOW SPORTSMANSHIP, BUT EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE WE SEE SOMEONE THAT SHOCKS THE SPORTS WORLD BY SHOWING NO CLASS IN DEFEAT, WHETHER IT’S CURSING, OR INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO HURT ANOTHER PLAYER.  IN SPORTS THEIR ARE ALWAYS RIVALRIES, NO MATTER WHICH TEAM YOU ROOT FOR THERE IS ALWAYS A HISTORY OF “BAD BLOOD” BETWEEN YOU FAVORITE TEAM AND ANOTHER TEAM, SOMETIMES IT CAN BE SEVERAL TEAMS.  THE TEAM YOU DISLIKE THE MOST MIGHT HAVE A CERTAIN PLAYER WHO IS REALLY GOOD AND MIGHT MAKE A GREAT PLAY AND A GOOD SPORT WOULD ADMIT HE MADE A GREAT PLAY WHERE AS OTHER MIGHT SAY “OH HE/SHE GOT LUCKY”.  ONLY TRUE LOVERS OF THE SPORT REALISE GREATNESS IN A PLAYER WHO PLAYS FOR THEIR FAVORITE TEAMS RIVAL TEAM AND THOSE PEOPLE SHOW SPORTSMANSHIP WHETHER THEIR TEAM WINS OR LOSES.  SHOWING SPORTSMANSHIP MAKES EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH YOU LOOK GOOD AS WELL AS YOURSELF.

Vacation..

During my vacation, I didn’t do much because I spent most of  my money on things for my room.  I did get to go to a Clippers game, which was cool because i was really close to the court, and i got to see Blake Griffin during his run at being Rookie of the Year, which he won while we were on vacation. BTW I did say he would win the award “hands down”,(in a previous posting) and he was the first person to win the award by being unanimously voted for since David Robinson in 1990.  I got to see Fast 5 which was a really good movie, but it didn’t have much to do with racing.  Well those are the only things that i can think of that are worth talking about that i did during vacation.

NBA Trades.

The NBA had a lot of trades last week, and some might look good for teams now, but not in the long run.  Some teams who were making a run for the NBA Finals traded really good players, and might have knocked themselves out of the race.  Boston is the best example of that.  They traded their starting Center Kendrick Perkins.  This player is a key element to Boston’s success throughout the past 3 years.  Doc Rivers, Boston’s Coach, once said that his “starting 5 have never lost a series in the playoffs”.  Which is true, because when the Lakers beat them in the finals last year Perkins was injured.  Doc Rivers also said that the Lakers won because Perkins didn’t play.  If you as a coach think you lost the NBA Finals, because you were missing one player, why would you go and trade him away.

Oklahoma City, or the Thunder, I feel could have won a Championship in the next 4 to 5 after last season, but with them acquiring Perkins (from Boston) I think it puts them in the hunt for a title in the next 2 to 3 years, if they can re-sign him.  The New Jersey Nets made a trade for Deron Williams, but I don’t think they should have.  Williams is an All-Star, and one of the BEST point guards of today’s game, but New Jersey might not be able to re-sign him after this year, and they are no where near the playoffs this year and Williams has no help there.  New Jersey is NOT a place where players want to call home in the NBA with the New York Knicks playing just miles away.

The New York Knicks also traded and got a hole new look to an already good team.  Last season the Knicks weren’t to good, but this year they were playing as a complete teams and were winning tough games.  The Knicks have wanted All-Star Small Forward Carmelo Anthony since before the season had even started, and finally got him but in my opinion they gave up to much for someone who said he wanted to play in NY already.  They gave up 2 starters who were having really good seasons, and were looking like bright starts for the future. When they could have waited until next year and kept them and added Carmelo.

There are plenty more trades to talk about and I can go on and on about who made mistakes and who is threat to make it to the Finals, but I’d rather not get into that right now.  Besides the Lakers are going to win the Championship again anyways ;).  The Lakers didn’t make any trades but it was better than what they would have gotten, now there’s no team that can match our height, and height has won us 2 back-to-back Championships already.

2011 Dunk Contest.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Blake Griffin, Javale McGee, Demar DeRozan, & Serge Ibaka, participated in the 2011 Dunk Contest over the weekend, and re-established the dunk contest.  The past couple of years the dunk contest was a dud.  Last year especially, no one really enjoyed it, and everyone thought the creativity was gone.  Serge Ibaka brought back a classic dunk jumping from the free throw line, Micheal Jordan, and Dr.J (Julius Erving) both did the dunk, but Ibaka jumped from further then both of them, but got a 45 which i thought was ridiculously low, he deserved a 50, the highest possible score.  Javale McGee, opened up with a double dunk, where he tossed up one ball and dunked another then caught the  ball he had thrown up and dunked that one on a different court.  He later dunked 3 balls in one jump.  DeRozan, had really spectacular dunks as well, although he didn’t jump over anything, he displayed astonishing athleticism, by executing dunks at eye-level with the 10ft. rim.  Blake Griffin, (who has an article below) stole the show, he and McGee battled it out at the end but Griffin stood alone with his last 2 dunks, the infamous (Vince Carter) “Honey Dip” with a twist, he alley-ooped it off the backboard to himself, and finished with the “Honey-Dip”.  His coach Kenny “The Jet” Smith, promissed something “no one has ever seen before.” and Griffin didn’t disappoint, he brought out a brand new car, KIA, and had his team mate Baron Davis get inside, but he wasn’t done there, he also brought out a chior, that sang “I believe I can fly..” as he caught an alley-oop from Davis(in the car), while he (Griffin) leaped over the car and finished with a two handed slam.

Wellness, Fitness, Health.

Wellness, fitness, and health, are all very important in life.  Wellness, is important because it has to do with your mental state.  If you are not well in the mind then it will affect your body as well.  Many people might not understand wellness, so they assume they don’t need to be ‘well’, but just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean you don’t need it or be in it…if that makes sense.  Being mentally well is to have a clear head and not be thinking of bad things, doing something bad, or being a bad person.  You should ALWAYS be thinking of different ways to CTR Fitness is also very important because you need to be fit, or fit enough to go out and do things.  It can be anything, some people get so lazy for so long that they can’t even go out and take a walk without being out of breath.  Some people complain about going up the 300’s building here at school because their legs hurt, or they’re out of breath when they get to class.  Really it’s not even that many stairs, it looks like a lot and from the outside it looks high.  Being fit can help a lot, and I know a lot of people who complain about those stairs, and even they have to realize how important being fit is if you can’t drag yourself up the stairs.

If you are not fit or well, you have to at least be healthy.  Health has to be the most important thing of the three.  You need health to live, well live without tubes in you, or a machine breathing for you.  I know sometimes health problems aren’t your fault, like diseases, or things that ‘run’ in your family, but with all the people who are fortunate enough to not have a disease there should be a lot more people who are healthy.  People everywhere, whether its kids or adults take their good health for granted, especially our generation, and a lot of our parents generation, that is why now more than ever we have more obese people in the world.  You should always think of ways to stay healthy and that way you’ll be happy so that you won’t have to be in and out of hospitals.

J-Mac.

I think Jason was inspirational to people, it doesn’t have to be just kids, who have autism.  He gives hope to families, who have children, or any other family members that have autism, that they can achieve their goals and reach their dreams.  He should be happy and proud, even if he brought hope to just one little family, or one kid then it helps in so many ways.  Hopefully the little kid has a normal life and succeeds in his dreams as well, and is able to bring hope to another kid or family.

My Name.

Well my name is Carlos, but people call me Charlie 🙂 in French Carlos means “strong”, in Spanish, and Portuguese it means “manly”.  In Old German my name would be Charles, which means “free man”. Well that’s all I can find about my name and, my Dad didn’t want my name to be Carlos, so I don’t really know why they gave me this name, and for some reason the computer says i spelled my name wrong hahah 😀

Freedom.

FREEDOM

Freedom gives us the ability to think for ourselves.  Some people don’t have the opportunity to think for themselves, because they have no freedom.  Students have the freedom to become successful students, but some choose not to.  That is their freedom, to choose the right or wrong.  Some students who don’t want to “Choose The Right”, sometimes give up their freedom, by getting into trouble with their parents, school, or even with the law, and those students will be punished, by being; grounded, suspended, expelled, put in jail, or something worse.

“Student, or people in general, who choose to have freedom, are students/people who choose the right.”-Carlos A.

Academic Champions are students who choose the right and decide to have freedom, they have the freedom to become what ever they want.  They have the freedom to become who ever they want to become.  Students who choose the right, and choose to be free, are the most successful students, because students who choose the wrong can’t succeed in life, or school, because they’re in trouble all the time and no one can be successful if they are in jail, grounded, expelled or suspended from school.

Students who choose the right choose to hold on to their freedom.  Without freedom, students can only go so far, but with it, they have the opportunity to exceed expectations, and go beyond what any one has ever thought of going.  Freedom is why people come to the U.S. they receive the freedom to learn, work, and just about anything else they want to do, because they have the freedom to do what they please. (within reason, of course.)

Freedom is very underappreciated, but if you want to keep it, always…

CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!

LosAngelesLakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers, fans should be worried about the next 11 games.  The Lakers have NOT been playing at their full potential, and none of the next 11 games are easy wins at all.  They play The Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and the Orlando Magic. None of these games are ”gimmies” any more.  Most of the teams are really good and really high ranked in the NBA.  Even the games you look at and think they automatically are going to win, are going to be tough for them to win.  The Lakers struggle against teams that are under 500 (for those of you that don’t know, under or over 500 means they lose or win more then half of their games.) I hope the Lakers get there..stuff together and pull off some wins, because they are way to talented to have the record of 31-13 when the Spurs are 36-6.

Blake Griffin.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a slideshow of the Los Angeles Clippers Rookie Blake Griffin.  He IS the future ROOKIE OF THE YEAR for 2011,in my opinion and it isn’t even close.  Griffin has been voted in The Slam Dunk Contest this year and he might even be in the All-Star game too.  He averages a double-double in each game, and had 27 consecutive games with a double-double.  Griffin scored 47 points in one game  last week, and that is the highest scoring game for a single player this year.

TheGreenHornet.

Today, The Green Hornet hits theaters and is suppose to have a huge opening day.

Everyone wants to see the movie just because of Seth Rogan.  Sure Seth Rogan is hilarious, but I’m not sure

if  him being a super hero is such a good idea.  Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen all of his movies and i really liked

them, and think they’re really funny, and want to see the movie.  I just think that a lot of people might be disappointed

if its not as funny as Pineapple Express, Superbad, or any of the rest of the movies where he’s constantly intoxicated or on drugs.

No one i know even knew about The Green Hornet  until they found out Seth Rogan was Staring in the movie. Seth Rogan is a

co-writer of the movie, I read it took 15 Years to make a decent version of the movie, because several companies attempted to make

the movie and failed miserably.  Sony, which everyone knows for its Play Stations,(put in $200 million) was brought in, in 2007

along with Seth Rogan, and were projected to lose money at first.  Now, due to marketing strategies they’re suppose to make money.

Anyways, people shouldn’t expect to see the Seth Rogan that they are use to, he lost a lot of weight for the part and isn’t up to no good,

he is a “super hero” after all.  I personally can’t wait to watch the movie, I just hope its not a dud and I’m NOT trying to convince people

not to watch it, it SHOULD be funny as long as you can get past the fact he won’t be getting

“high” during the movie.

dumb things..

This girl to my left thinks the world is going to end in 2012. I think the whole 2012 thing is ridiculous.  First of  all how can the aztecs, who lived hundreds of years ago find out when the world will end, using 0(zero) technology?  Now she’s saying the world will end when ever GOD decides it will end… how would aztecs communicate with GOD?… if they could communicate with god back then, why can’t people in the twenty first century or before that? everyone would know the meaning of life, and how to cure all kinds of disease.  The whole thing about the world ending seems to me like a sham to me, i know everyone has their opinions, but use some logic at least, before you start arguing your “belief.”
